Technical Make-Up |
RootBarrier is a non-woven 100%
polypropylene geotextile, made from continuous heat bonded
filaments with an extruded coating.
RootBarrier is impenetrable to roots, 100% waterproof, strong and
flexible, lightweight and very easy to install, resistant to bacteria and
pathogens in the soil and 100% recyclable. |
Main Uses |
RootBarrier is the solution for
controlling the roots of trees, grasses and plants such bamboo.
RootBarrier can prevent roots from damaging footpaths,
walking tracks, driveways, roads, kerb & channel, garden
beds, tennis courts, golf courses and underground service drains,
pipes and cables.
RootBarrier is 100% waterproof so it can be used as a soil moisture
control barrier to prevent the movement of water through the soil profile.
This is particularly necessary to prevent root induced soil moisture loss
and thereby damage to hardscape structures such as building foundations,
swimming pools, roads and footpaths. |
Other Uses |
RootBarrier can be installed in
different ways; vertically in a linear, straight or contoured
format as a partition wall between roots and paving, buildings
and underground services; vertically in a surround format around
trees and plants; horizontally under paving and over underground
services; and wrapped around drains, pipes & cables. |
Difference from other similar
products |
RootBarrier will not melt (like
cheese) when it comes in contact with hot materials, such as
hot mix asphalt like low, medium or high density polyethylene
(HDPE) does. RootBarrier will not become brittle and crack
after being in the ground for some time like polyethylene does.
Laboratory tests conducted in Europe show that RootBarrier will
still retain approximately half its strength after being in
the ground for 300 years! RootBarrier is much lighter
than other products such as polyethylene and therefore has
significant OH&S benefits for handlers and installers.
RootBarrier is much more flexible than other products
which means it can follow any line, including curves, right
angles, combinations of vertical and horizontal and can even
be pleated in a trench. |
